When We Arrived Poetry Series: The Video Edition 2022

April is National Poetry Month and She Chronicles is hosting “When We Arrived” Poetry Series: The Video Edition 2022. This month will be hosted a bit differently than from the past. “When We Arrived” 2022 will feature video posts of 20-25 poets/spoken word artists in honor of the art form throughout the month of April.

In addition, there will be weekly zoom calls with poetry selections read in honor of the ‘Pillars’, or those who have paved the way, in the black poetry community. The selected panel will read and discuss creative works from the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Arts Movement and two special segments entitled, ‘Men Speaking of Rivers’ and ‘Rue Makers: Women Poets of the Diaspora’.  We are now accepting submissions for “When We Arrived” with the following considerations:

  1. All videos submissions must have a hosted link to a video platform, i.e. YouTube.
  2. All video submissions must be 1-4 minutes. Videos over 4 minutes will NOT be considered.
  3. Videos should have adequate lighting and audio to present a professional appearance.
  4. DEADLINE MARCH 20TH, send submission to 2021shechronicles@gmail.com with the subject line: When We Arrived Submission
  5. Chosen performers must complete the “Getting To Know You” questions to better acquaint viewers with them and their work. (Once chosen, the questions will be supplied from She Chronicles.)

We look forward to your submissions!
