When We Arrived asks, “How does poetry inform other art forms?” with poet Sage Gallon

How does poetry inform your visual art?

Poetry has informed my Visual Art in May ways. Poetry compels me, challenges me  to look deeper into myself, to see the truths, the good as well as the ugly. I am challenged to open my eyes, to SEE and it is by seeing more of myself that I am able then to see everything  around me a new, to find the “poetry” in photos as well on the canvas… Poetry  also teaches me how to be fearless. It is with that sense of fearlessness I am able to Shoot and Paint.

How important is accessibility of meaning for a poem?
That’s a great question, I tend to write from my private parts, I attempt to reveal my deepest secrets my fears, my joys my life, experience and sometimes my fantasies… I am often shocked when others relate to a piece. There are even some pieces that I have written that I no longer relate to or even like but someone will come up to me and say something like ” yo Sage… That poem ‘Fight’… It really moved me”. This tells me the accessibility of meaning is sometimes not for the Artist but for the audience.

When We Arrived presents an interview with poet Teal Moss

What is it about poetry that resonates with you?

Poetry has been a perfect frequency to assist in my growth in life.  It has created rhythms in word by allowing me to breath thru the page.  When U R riding that train of thought and everything comes out on the paper in a multitude of colors, locations, and feelings just to name a few.

How has poetry informed your work as a photographer/musician?

It’s allowed to look at things visually and sonically at various angles…more obtuse than right.

Poetry is like…

A slow dance, in slow motion rain set to a tone and a beautiful heartbeat.

When We Arrived presents: Activated a poem by Teal Moss

Her vision is 4 dimensional

Her Love is non conventional

See see’s the universe in the mahogany of her hands

Her word are always visual

Her healing is preferential

She has gifts only solar systems can understand

Our feelings are each other’s addiction

Graphic when we become fiction

Allows our worlds to spiritually expand

Without constrictions

In our convictions

This is our walk in the sand

Like the sun caresses the sky 7 days a week

She kisses me like the moon does the night as we create our Mozambique

Far from perfect, designed so unique

We lay in this hub of the ultraverse

Tailored Cosmic Chic

She blooms for me like a rose in the mist of a mid September morn

The dew from her petals will bless the green grass below as the day begins to dawn

The breeze that comes off from her love, allows me to feel heaven like a song

The clouds fall in love, smile and dance on

As you become lost in the infinity pool she calls eyes

Her patterns and signatures are that of galaxies, pulsating to harmonize

Planting soul in your soil, you steps are fertilized

Building and growing your aura, now you realize

You feel Saturn’s symphony, she’s made you her King

With her soul invested into you, you can do anything

Can I see myself married to her, yes I’d sing

Can I see her bearing a child, yes 1 or 2 offspring

This is a love that’s long overdue; I’m prepared with a ring

The Universe has blessed me with a love forever, forever and everything
